I’m not sure there’s any feeling worse than being bloated.
Okay fine, yes, there are worse feelings, but DAILY bloat??? I had this feeling for so long, it was SO frustrating and I wasn’t sure I’d every figure out how to make it go away.
Just thinking about having to do ballet or swing a golf club or anything active with that bloated feeling it would be impossible for me to find the energy let alone perform properly! Little did I know so much was happening on the inside, which I still don’t understand fully, but what I know is I felt one way before adjusting what I was eating, and after I felt like a whole new person!
When you have a “clean slate” it really lets your body run the way it’s supposed to and thrives when you continue to give it the nutrients it craves. Here’s my little saying to remember what nutrients I should be getting in every single day:
Please Can We Maybe Fucking Value ourselves(?????)
I dunno I thought of it one day while cooking dinner and it stuck, so maybe it will help you too lol. Each letter stands for a different essential nutrient.
Protein, Carbs, Water, Minerals, Fats, Vitamins
Protein and Carbs are talked about the most in the wellness world, but every one of them is just as important! And I’m not talking supplements, I’m talking real life food without feeling deprived. I didn’t know what it was like to feel nourished until I really started paying attention to how food really works. I’m not against supplements, they can be very helpful! First and foremost, though, we’re talking good old real, whole, comes from the earth, food.
Growing up through the early 2000’s, seeing super skinny girls in the magazines I loved to read, along with diet plans and workout routines, and judgment thrown at women who didn’t look a certain way were the norm for young girls like me to see and read about. Then I learned food is what fuels life, and without it I just don’t have the energy for everything I want to do!!

Here’s what meals look like on a typical active day for me:
Breakfast: applesauce pouch (first, because food never sounds good first thing in the morning), breakfast potatoes, tofu, preworkout. If I don’t have food prepped or I don’t feel like cooking, I’ll have fruit like strawberries or cherries or a banana, with a rice cake with peanut butter, cacao nibs, and a drizzle of maple syrup; this is a very typical snack I’ll have before I head to ballet so I’m not too full and sluggish, then I’ll have a bigger meal afterwards.
Lunch: Lately, a big salad. Pre-made salad mix that I add more veggies to, like cucumber and radishes. I like to add a carb like quick rice (cooled) or crumbled up tortilla chips, and protein like tofu or chickpeas – depending on how lazy I’m feeling at that moment. I’ve been obsessively making a quick dressing that uses only plant-based mayo, lemon juice, garlic powder, and dill. So simple and so delicious! Sometimes I’ll have a protein shake with my salad if it was an extra tough class that day or if I played golf. More activity = more nutrients.
Dinner: I’ve been ordering takeout more often recently because I am a little burned out on cooking, so sometimes we have Thai, Chinese, Chipotle, or Pizza. I don’t see any problem with ordering out, especially if I can get two meals out of larger servings! On the days I do decide to cook (still, 4-5 days a week), I use a formula to create a meal: Protein + Carb + Vegetable = Dinner. The fat comes in with the olive oil I use to cook everything in, and the dressings we typically use on top. I don’t often follow recipes, but I’ve been considering trying new things lately to get out of my rut.
As far as snacks go, I love a good pb&j with a crispy La Croix out on the golf course, an ice cold protein shake or smoothie, BOBOs oat bars, unlimited fruit, and my favorite: kettle corn 😋
I feel very strongly that having a clean slate (especially if you live in the states where food is sometimes questionable) will help you feel a very different way than you’ve ever felt. It’s not a quick fix, it’s a way to nourish your body that gets you to a place where you feel like you can take on any combination or any golf course or any thrift store 🤠that comes your way!
If you’re ready to stop guessing, quiet the noise, and build your own clean slate, the exact elimination blueprint I used is ready for you. Right here, right now. Let’s clear the internal friction so your body can function like the well-designed machine it is. Click here to learn more.
